Food-grade valve grease for food processing plants
Setral, a partner of MD Poland, offers various types of food-grade valve grease for fittings, valves and sealing components used in the food and beverage.
The products in this range are classified as H1 lubricants, meaning they are intended for equipment where accidental contact between the lubricated component and food may occur. These products are also Halal and Kosher certified.
Depending on the formulation, the available greases offer characteristics such as:
- compatibility with plastics, elastomers and sealing materials;
- resistance to cold and hot water;
- resistance to steam, fruit acids and alkaline detergents;
- sealing properties;
- corrosion protection;
- reduction of wear and friction;
- stability at low and high temperatures.

The Setral range includes semi-synthetic, silicone-based, PAO and PFPE greases with different consistencies and operating temperature ranges.

Compatibility with seals and operating conditions
Material compatibility is one of the distinguishing features of the Setral range.
Some formulations are compatible with common sealing materials and plastics, whilst SI-setral-642 is neutral towards elastomers, plastics and metals. SI-setral-929/FD is generally compatible with EPDM, FKM and NBR and remains stable in cold water, hot water and steam.
For applications exposed to process or cleaning fluids, the SYN-setral-53 B series is resistant to steam, fruit acids and alkaline detergents.
Food-grade valve grease for applications in the drinks industry
SYN-setral-BFG 2-400 is an H1-grade adhesive lubricating grease intended for the food and drinks industries.
The product has approved compatibility with beer head and has passed a test using an odour and taste sensor system conducted by the Weihenstephan Research Centre. It is also stable in cold and hot water and compatible with common plastics and sealing materials.
Requirements for Setral food-grade lubricants
Setral’s food-grade lubricants and maintenance products are manufactured under a hygiene quality management system certified to the ISO 21469 standard.
Depending on the specific product, the formulations offered for fittings, valves and seals may also be:
- PFAS-free;
- microplastic-free;
- free from MOSH/MOAH as formulation components;
- tested for sterility.
These characteristics vary depending on the grease selected and must therefore be assessed according to the specific application.
